Consultation on Proposal to increase the number of available places for the Autistic Spectrum Disorder Specialist Resource Base at Highfield Junior and Infant School from 1st September 2025
Our Proposal
Prince Albert Community Trust would like to hear your views on our proposal for Highfield school, Highfield Road, Saltley, Birmingham, B8 3QF to expand Autistic Specialist Resource Base places from 1st September 2025.
We are currently seeking your feedback to increase the number of commissioned places within our Resource Base from 24 to 33 places. Our specialised provision supports pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), offering tailored teaching and a bespoke curriculum whilst allowing access to mainstream lessons where children are able and ready. The main driver for this proposal is to meet the increased demand for specialist educational provision within our local area and the needs of our most vulnerable learners.
What are the benefits of this proposal?
Increasing the number of commissioned places would enable us to:
- Provide support to a greater number of children with ASD,
- Further develop specialist teaching and learning resources, and
- Enhance the environments within our school.
- A larger network for parents to engage with other parents
We want to assure you that this proposal is being thoughtfully considered with input from the local authority, educational specialists, and our Trust Board. Any expansion would be carefully managed to maintain the high-quality provision our school is known for.
We welcome your thoughts, questions, or feedback regarding this proposal. Please feel free to reach out to us or attend the information session we will be holding on [insert date], where we will share more details and answer any queries you may have.
Places at the Specialist Resource Base are agreed through Birmingham County Council SENAR admissions processes and the school will continue to be part of the decision-making process.
Please note; Our proposal is subject to significant change determination as well as staff recruitment and training in line with our Trust and whole school policies and procedures.
