School Closure

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following on from the text message that you received yesterday and the Prime Minister announcing a national lockdown, Highfield will now be closed until further notice.

Please be assured that your child’s teacher will provide a remote education for your children, combining live lessons, some pre-recorded content and links to other learning experiences and opportunities. Your child’s teacher will be available to support them from 8:30 until 3:30 with the exception of the one-hour lunch break.

We strongly encourage all children to access learning remotely in order to engage with their teachers and peers. Work will be set daily and teachers will monitor engagement and all work completed. This work will be the same content as what they would be doing in school so engagement in this learning is essential. If this is not possible, we will be providing weekly paper packs – covering the same content as online learning - that can be collected from the main office on Wednesday 6th January between 9:00 and 10:00 am this week.
As of next week, packs can be collected on a Monday morning between the same times.
If you are unable to access online learning and are using paper packs, a member of school staff will be calling on a daily basis to check in on how your child is doing and to offer any support where necessary.

Our keyworker provision will be up and running from Wednesday 6th January. The provision will be based at Highfield. We can only offer in school provision for children who fit any of the categories below:

  • One or both parents are critical workers
  • Pupil with complex, additional needs (EHCP)
  • Vulnerable pupils (those with external agency involvement)

If you meet this criteria and require keyworker provision, please complete this form with the details of your eligibility and the children who will be attending.

Information regarding free school meals will be shared at a later date once this has been confirmed.
I will ensure that I communicate with you in light of any changes regarding school reopening. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding. I hope that you all remain safe and well.

Best wishes,
Mr. A. Knibbs
Head of School
