Online Safety Update: Issue 23

Our latest Prince Albert Community Trust Online Safety Update newsletter is out now!

Produced on a half termly basis to keep you up-to-date with Online Safety news, new ICT initiatives and ways in which you can help to keep your family safe both online and when using emerging technology.

We hope you enjoy reading 'Issue 23: December and Christmas 2018' online now.

In this issue we look at how when you set up a new bit of tech, many of the apps will automatically offer the opportunity to share your location. We look at the issues you need to consider before deciding whether to share your child’s location...as well as recommended apps for location tracking. We also look at some Christmas conversation starter tips to help children deal with online issues and open up about their digital lives.

If you have a concern regarding your child's use of the internet at home or in school, you can speak to one of our Online Safety Leads for support and advice.

Parent Workshop – 13th Nov 2018 @ 2:45pm

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I am writing to you to invite you to our next Online Safety Parent Workshop. Following concerns from parents and teachers, this half terms focus will be on:

  • Online Gaming & how to stay safe in this online environment

If you allow your child to play games online at home (including age restricted games like Fortnight) then please attend the workshop to find out how this can be done safely.

During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice on topics surrounding Online Gaming.

The Online Safety Parent Workshop will take place in the Infant Hall from 2:45pm to 3:15pm on Tuesday 13thNovember.

This is a fantastic opportunity to ask for advice, put your mind at ease or just enquire as to what you can do to keep your child safe online at home.

Yours sincerely,
Mr J. Tromans
